The dotMiami Team
Alexander Schubert, Founder

Born in September 1965 in Berlin, Germany, masters degree in Aviation and Space Engineering (Technical University of Berlin). He is involved in the ICANN process since mid 2004 and co-founded the “dotBerlin GmbH & Co. Kg” (www.dotberlin.com) in the mid of 2005. dotBerlin will apply for the TLD “.berlin” in 2011. The “.berlin” application is the frontrunner for many other geo-TLD’s like “.paris”, “.tokyo” or “.sfo” (for San Francisco).
In June 2009 Alexander founded dotGay LLC in San Francisco which will apply for the TLD “.gay” in 2011, a TLD for the LGBT community: www.dotgay.com. Using a unique philanthropic entrepreneur model, dotGay LLC gives over two thirds of all profits back to the LGBT community.
In December 2010 Alexander created the “.florida” initiative, the first USA state TLD project. The aim is -like with dotGay- to give over two thirds of all profits back to the Florida community.
The registry service provider (RSP)
dotMiami LLC creates the application for the “.miami” TLD, secures the necessary funds, develops the business plan and collects the endorsement of Miami’s community. dotMiami LLC will be the “registry operator” for the new gTLD “.miami”. The technical part of an internet domain registry involves the operation of a registry root name server, a registry whois server, the registrars relations including billing for the domain name registrations, running a registrar hotline, assistance during the implementation of the TLD launch mechanisms and many other tasks. It can not be recommended to try to provide all these RSP services “in house”. Typically these parts of the operation of a new gTLD are outsourced to a third party: The so called “RSP”.
dotMiami LLC is currently in discussions with potential RSP’s and will announce it’s choice shortly.
